16-Year-Old Charged With CDS Offenses

On Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at approximately 11:28 p.m, Patrolman Richard Gaylord checked on a tan Acura that was parked and occupied on the 600 block of Chestnut Street for an extended period of time.

As Patrolman Gaylord approached the vehicle he detected a strong odor of suspected burning marijuana. An investigation led to the discovery of one (1) clear Ziploc bag containing four (4) smaller clear Ziploc bags – all containing suspected marijuana in the possession of a 16-year-old male of Elizabeth, NJ.

The juvenile was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana). He was later released to the custody of a parent pending a Union County Family Court hearing.
