Neighboring friendly rivals, the Roselle Park Panthers and the Roselle Rams will meet for the hundredth time tomorrow, November 23rd, for their annual Thanksgiving football game.
Even though the first Thanksgiving game was played in 1915, they have been played annually since 1919.
The game will take place in Roselle Park for the second year in a row, due to renovations being done at E. Ralph Arminio Field in Roselle. The Roselle Park Marching Band, as well as the cheer team, will be on hand to encourage the crowd and players.
The Panthers and Rams are set to kick-off at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, at Herm Shaw Field, located on the Colfax Avenue side of the Roselle Park High School athletic complex.
The Roselle Park Panthers lead the over-century-old series with 50 wins versus the Rams’ 41 wins. The game has ended in a draw eight times with seven of those games – in 1930, 1931, 1933, 1941, 1947, 1975, and 1985 – having ended scoreless. The 1936 game ended in a 6-6 tie.
