The Union County Crime Stoppers program has expanded and is now able to accept tips via the internet at their new website www.uctip.org as well as via text messaging.
This fully-featured tip management database system is a portal for the public to submit anonymous information via the internet. The tipsters now have a “private” alternative to a phone call. Detailed questions enable the tipster to give more information plus the ability to attach photographs and video. The website is available in three languages: English, Spanish, and French.
It also allows tips to be sent by means of SMS text messaging. This gives any tipsters a discreet and quick method of providing crime information. Text messaging caters in particular to the younger generations who, historically, are less likely to interact with law enforcement and are familiar with “texting”. The tipster simply has to text “UCTIP plus their message” to 274637 (CRIME).
The current telephone tip line 908-654-TIPS (8477) will also remain operational.
