This morning at approximately 8:08 a.m., the Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of West Westfield Avenue and Valley Road.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a 1999 Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on West Westfield Avenue in the left lane approaching Valley Road. A 1998 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on West Westfield Avenue in the left lane approaching Valley Road. The CRV made a left turn onto Valley Road directly in the path of the Civic. The Honda Civic struck the passenger side door, causing the CRV to roll over onto its driver’s side.

One of the vehicles operators was transported by Cranford EMS to University Hospital with complaint of back, chest, and neck pains. The other operator was not injured and was issued summonses for careless driving and failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

Both vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene.

Westbound traffic was stopped and detoured for approximately 25 minutes during the early morning rush.
