On Friday, July 5, 2013, at 5:09 p.m., Roselle Park Police were dispatched to a single family home on the 500 block of Elm Street for a report of a man found at the bottom of a pool. Patrolman Mitchell White was the first to arrive and found the victim, Vladimir Pierre-Louis, age 36, being attended to by a neighbor next to the pool. Patrolman White assisted in providing medical aid to Mr. Pierre-Louis until the arrival of Roselle Park EMS and MONOC (Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corporation) Paramedics a short while later.

Police learned that Pierre-Louis – who reportedly was unable to swim – was found at the bottom of the pool by a family member. A neighbor, Walter Anderson, heard a loud commotion and quickly responded by diving in the pool and pulling Vladimir from the water. Walter then began CPR on the unresponsive neighbor on the walkway around the pool. Vladimir soon began breathing on his own and was transported to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ for further treatment.
