March 25, 2015

At approximately 8:46 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 Nissan on West Westfield Avenue at Seaton Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Thiery Gustave, age 26 of Elizabeth, was arrested for possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Gustave was released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., Patrolman John Fitzgerald conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2003 Honda on Locust Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Najiyah C. Barr, age 25 of Newark, presented to police a New Jersey driver’s license belonging to her sister. She also reportedly identified herself as the sister, Taheerah M. Johnson to the police.

A warrant was discovered in the name provided and she was placed under arrest.

The passenger of the vehicle Zaniyyah Dean, age 23 of Elizabeth, was also arrested for an outstanding no-bail warrant out of Rahway Municipal court for drug possession.

Once at police headquarters, the driver stated to police that she presented her sister’s license because she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Hackensack Municipal court with $3,500 bail. Ms. Barr was charged with hindering her own apprehension and knowingly possess a document which falsely purports her driver’s license. She was lodged in the Union County Jail on $5,000 bail and Ms. Dean was turned over to Rahway Police.

March 29, 2015

At approximately 11:41 p.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 Mitsubishi on West 1st Ave at Walnut Street in Roselle for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Ricardo Matos, age 24 from Linden, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Matos was released on a summons.

March 31, 2015

Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Nissan on West Westfield Avenue at Faitoute Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Derrick Thomas, age 20 of Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Thomas was released on a summons.
