August 27, 2017
At 9:58 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2009 Honda along West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The passengers – identified as Jonathan C. Price, age 37 from Piscataway and Ronald Powell, age 34 from Roselle – were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrest out of Piscataway, Roselle, and Roselle Park Municipal Courts. Both were arrested on the strength of warrants. Mr. Price was subsequently found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was formally charged with possession of c.d.s. and released on a summons. Mr. Powell was lodged into the Union County Jail on outstanding warrants. Both were issued motor vehicle summons for the stop.

September 5, 2017
At approximately 12:42 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Snyder conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 Volkswagen along West Westfield Avenue near Locust Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Cynthia Melendez, age 19 of Elizabeth, and passenger Andrew Bratcher, age 19 from Roselle Park, were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both Ms. Melendez and Mr. Bratcher were arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ms. Melendez was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, and failure to inspect the vehicle. Mr. Bratcher was issued motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seat belt. Both were ultimately released on a summons pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

September 10, 2017
At approximately 12:49 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1997 Acura along Faitoute Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle Dominic M. Rodriguez, age 23 from Cranford, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Rodriguez was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was served with motor vehicle summonses for no front plate, improper use of high beams, and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. He was additionally found to have a no-bail warrant out of Hoboken Municipal Court and turned over to Hoboken Police after being released on a summons.

September 11, 2017
At 5:40 a.m., Detective Sergeant Dominick Frino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1997 Camry along West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle identified as Shiabon A. Poff, age 38 from Waretown, was found to be in possession of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic needles. The passenger of the vehicle – identified as Lawrence W. Mann, age 32 from Waretown – was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Ocean Township Municipal Court and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were placed under arrest for same. Ms. Poff was charged with possession of c.d.s, drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic needles. She was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, view obstruction and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. She was released on a summons with a Union County Superior Court date. Mr. Mann was charged with hindering his apprehension for providing false information to police and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seatbelt. He was released r.o.r. on an outstanding warrant and released on a summons.

Later that day on an unrelated matter, at approximately 4:21 p.m., Roselle Park Police officers responded to 205 Chestnut Street along with the Roselle Park Fire Department (RPFD) on a report of a dryer fire. Once on scene, the fire was extinguished and the building was ventilated. No injuries were reported and the fire appeared accidental.

September 12, 2017
At approximately 12:40 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 BMW along West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle Ryan O. Ogando, age 26 from Bronx, NY was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Ogando was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was served with motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. He was ultimately released on a summons pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
