Failure To Wear Seatbelt Violation Leads To Arrest thumbnail

On Monday, November 29, 2010 at approximately 1:57 p.m., Patrolman Nicholas Vaughan observed a red Honda Civic with the driver in violation of NJSA 39:3-76.2F (failure to wear seatbelt). A motor vehicle stop on Galloping Hill Road resulted in the discovery of a partially smoked hand rolled cigar containing suspected CDS marijuana.

The driver who was identified as Vicente Melo, age 19, of Elizabeth, was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)4  (possession of marijuana); 39:3-76.2F (failure to wear seatbelt) and 39:4-49.1 (possession of CDS in a motor vehicle). He was released pending a municipal court date December 9, 2010.
