Backyard Marijuana Smoking Leads To Arrest thumbnail

On December 6, 2010 at approximately 10 a.m., Detective Sergeant Manuel Jimenez observed five (5) Hispanic males congregating in the rear yard of 16 Charles Street. Detective Jimenez detected the air in this immediate area was saturated with the odor of freshly burnt marijuana. The males were observed passing an object between each other, placing it to their mouths and exhaling smoke. Patrolmen Matthew Disano and James Cantrell assisted in the investigation that resulted in the discovery of a silver and red pipe containing suspected marijuana residue, a plastic container with suspected CDS marijuana and a plastic bag containing suspected CDS residue. The five (5) men were arrested and charged with 2C:35-10(a)4 (possession of marijuana) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia) and released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of December 16, 2010.

The arrested were identified as Noe Ponce, age 33, of Elizabeth; Rojelio Rosas, age 32, of Roselle Park; Emanuel Torres, age 25, of Roselle Park; Rodolfo Torres, age 31, of Roselle Park; and Rene Panohaya, age 28, of Roselle Park.
