70 Bags Of Suspected Herion Found During Traffic Violation Stop thumbnail

At 2:30pm, Patrolmen Nicholas Vaughan and Jeffrey Rapach stopped a 2007 Cadillac on East Westfield Ave for traffic violations. During the roadside investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of several bags of suspected heroin. Valerie Vitale, 26, of Metuchen was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and later released. The passenger, Gregory J. Kaloyerakis, 25, of Edison was found with a rolled up dollar bill in his lap. The bill was found to contain a white powdery substance, suspected to be heroin. He was also found in possession of over 70 bags of suspected heroin as well as material commonly used to ingest heroin. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance / Heroin, Possession with the intent to distribute CDS/ Heroin, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kaloyerakis was transported to the Union County Jail after he was unable to post bail in the amount of $35,000.
